Our gym is based on the concept of hybrid indoor / outdoor training. But what does this mean? Well in a nutshell this means we get the benefits of training in a safe indoor gym with the benefits of being outside in nature.
Indoor training means you have shelter from the elements, rain, extreme temperatures and darkness. It also means you have secure flooring and access to barbells, racks, kettlebells. As well as other equipment to allow you to train effectively and safely.
Benefits of training indoors are the fact it is safe, solid floors that are also nonslip so you can lift barbells safely. They are also warm in the winter and cool in the summer. But this is nice but not relative to life when we have to go outside to work, play with the kids or do our sports.
Outdoor training usually happens for sports teams for their training nights. You play matches outside on the pitch, so you practice on the pitch to ready yourself and your team for game day. You train day or night, summer and winter, to get ready for the match you will play outside in the summer or winter.
Why should your gym training differ too?
More than a Bootcamp Style of Training
Bootcamps are a popular form of outdoor training. But these are done on a muddy field or park, usually with more conditioning training and they neglect other areas of fitness (strength, mobility, nutrition etc). The member of staff is usually there to just motivate and rarely coaches.
Our Hybrid indoor/Outdoor gym is a blend of the two. We have a state-of-the-art gym in a dome cover where we can shelter from the extreme elements but still retain the benefits of being in nature.
The flooring is flat, and sturdy Astro floor for us to squat, jump, roll, crawl and run on. We have a large shelter that will keep the rain off but allow maximum sunlight through. It will keep the wind off too to let us be warm in the winter but cool in the summer.
It is still outside training so we recommend you wear your layers, gloves, etc in the winter and wear shorts and a t-shirt in the summer. Our coach will guide you through the seasons and do what is best for you.
We Coach You Outdoor
The secret to our hybrid indoor / outdoor setup is coaching. Each session is also designed to warm you up and keep you warm. This means you will be active for the whole session. It also means we won’t be going too crazy with heavy weights all the time. However, you will still be able to get the benefits of weight training, without all the extra time it takes to recover because you are not going too heavy all the time.
